Jane Street Cards V4 Writeup

My solve for the Jane Street Cards V4 puzzle. Credits to Maegan, for this was a joint venture.

  1. Arrange cards by either ascending/descending order (up to you), ensure all 4 decks are arranged in the same manner. Ensure that all the cards are correctly facing upwards (check the back compass pattern)

  2. Make observations:

    • The four suits have cards with funny pips (hollowed out parts).
    • The missing part all have their own direction (5 possibilities: 4 corners and centre).
    • Within each of the numbers, notice that not all 5 directions are present.
    • arrange the 4 decks by the number on the king’s sword, that will be the order you TRACE out the letters
    • notice that the numbers written on the Jacks are unique

  3. Follow the king’s sword and the jack’s numbers, those are the blanks you need to fill with letters.

  4. TRACE out the letters. They are written in capital. You should now obtain your answer : )
